At-home sleep apnea testing is an easy, cost-effective way to figure out whether you’re having trouble breathing. An at-home sleep apnea test may be appropriate for you if you have signs of obstructive sleep apnea, such as:
- A sleep partner reporting that you snore, snort or gasp while sleeping
- Disrupted sleep
- Daytime sleepiness
With an at-home study, you’ll be in the comfort of your own surroundings, which can mean a more accurate reading of how you actually sleep.
STOP-BANG
Eight yes/no questions about snoring, tiredness, breathing and a few physical measures. Complete it now and find out whether you are at risk of obstructive sleep apnoea, and whether a home sleep study is the next step.
Your answers stay on this page unless you choose to have your result sent to you.
About this tool: STOP-BANG is a clinically validated questionnaire used worldwide to screen for the risk of obstructive sleep apnoea. Your answers are scored exactly as your clinician would score them; the result is a guide, not a diagnosis.
Notice & Disclaimer: STOP-BANG was developed and validated by Chung F et al (Anesthesiology 2008 and British Journal of Anaesthesia 2012). This screening tool provides an initial assessment of obstructive sleep apnoea risk for informational purposes only and does not constitute a formal medical diagnosis or replace a consultation with a qualified clinician.
Your Pathway to Better Sleep
Two Options:
Private Pathway (Self-funded):
Quickly screen yourself with the Stop-Bang Questionnaire. If you score 3 or higher, order and pay for a convenient home-based sleep test. Choose a nearby clinic to pick up the testing equipment, perform the test in your own bed, and receive a comprehensive report with recommendations from an independent Sleep Physician. You’ll then have a face-to-face consultation with our experienced sleep consultants at the same clinic to discuss your results and CPAP options.
Medicare Pathway (Subject to eligibility):
Take the Stop-Bang Questionnaire to see if you might be at risk. If your score is 3 or higher, download our Sleep Study Referral Form. Bring the completed form to your General Practitioner (GP) to discuss your eligibility for a Medicare-supported home-based sleep study. Once approved, your GP or you can send the completed referral form to us for processing.

A home-based sleep study is a non-invasive recording of your sleep for the diagnosis and evaluation of sleep disorder that is performed while you sleep at home overnight.
Medicare covers the diagnostic test if you satisfy criteria defined in the MBS guidelines for sleep studies. Your GP will advise you about this when completing the referral.
